Panic Attacks –
Having a panic attack can be an extremely frightening experience. The term “obese” describes a person who’s very overweight, with a lot of body fat. It’s a common problem in the UK that’s estimated to affect around one in every four adults and around one in every five children aged 10 to 11.
Obesity can reduce your overall quality of life. It also creates a strain on health services and leads to premature death due to its association with serious chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidaemia, which are all major risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
Finding out you have cancer is devastating. It impacts on every area of your life and coping with cancer and the emotional effects of this massive change in your life, as well as the side effects of treatment, can be overwhelming. Going through cancer treatment can lead to anxiety, stress, depression, fear and loss of control. Cancer affects everyone’s life differently and while hypnotherapy does not cure cancer, (if you have any signs and symptoms of cancer you should contact your GP without delay), it can be effective in helping you cope with the symptoms and side effects of treatment. Hypnotherapy can also help friends and relatives cope with the emotional effects on them.
Have you been suffering with pain for a while? Pain is there to protect us. It’s a message from our brain that we need to do something. NEW pain protects you. An example of this is when you put your hand on a very hot object. The pain tells you to move your hand…. quickly….. so you don’t get badly burned. OLD pain is a message in your mind that’s no longer needed once it’s done its job of alerting you to the problem.
Phobies and fears
Fear is a natural response caused by real danger. A phobia, on the other hand, is an irrational fear of an object or situation that causes little or no danger. Phobias are linked to our subconscious mind, and because they are irrational, they can often be dealt with effectively. The list of phobias is long and some of them seem very strange (e.g phobia of tomato soup, beans etc.). Often the person knows the phobia is irrational but still struggles to do anything about it.
